The Great Sunil Gavaskar's Review for the Marine Sports given in 1991

When I was young the name Marine Sports meant another shop selling sports equipment. It was only after I was 18 when we moved to Dadar from Grant Road that I realised that it indeed sold sports equipment, but not the usual kind. While most sports shop sold equipment which a player/sport lover used physically. Marine Sports sold sports equipment which the sportsperson used mentally.

The Marine Sports sold literature written by the great names of the various games was inspiring stuff to the upcoming sportsperson. Apart from inspiring, the literature available also helped through the experience of its author. The pitfalls and how to avoid them, the way to glory and the effort to stand at the top, were all there between the pages of the many books that was available.  This process of learning mentally is important as learning physically and in this regard Marine Sports contribution has been immeasurable.

Over the years the shop has expanded and there is a veritable feast that awaits the hungry sports reader. I just hope that many budding sports person will avail of the great opportunity to expand their sporting frontiers and whether they then make success in sports or not, will not matter because they will certainly be the wiser for trying.
